Bringing aid to a devastated Bicol

Public Affairs Director Darwin Mariano turns-over the laminated sacks to Congressman Edcel Lagman

There is nothing that brings a people together faster than a crisis. And this was proven as the CEMEX Philippines family rallied together to support the Bicol Relief Drive launched by the CEMEX Philippines Foundation.

Working with the Office of Congressman Edcel Lagman (1st District Albay), the Foundation began an effort to aid the province of Bicol which was ravaged by Supertyphoon Reming (International name: Durian).

The CEMEX Philippines Foundation immediately donated 150 rolls (15,000 meters) of plastic awning and tarpaulin in aid to the victims of Typhoon Reming in the Bicol region. The donation was welcomed by Bicol Representative Edcel Lagman who thanked the Foundation for extending its help towards the relief efforts in the typhoon-devastated area.

To date, the CEMEX Philippines Foundation has donated over P1M to the victims of typhoon Reming, through the purchase and transport of much needed laminated sacks to be used for shelter, and canned goods and other items donated by employees of the CEMEX Philippines.

"The cries of the people are mounting and we are glad to have partners like the CEMEX (Philippines) Foundation for reaching out. We are sure that the tarps will provide temporary shelter to those who have lost their homes," Congressman Lagman asserted.

As in previous relief efforts, the Foundation recognizes each and every individual who have contributed towards making the Bicol Relief Drive a success. Time and again, you have shown your generosity and heart in reaching out to those in desperate need.
