The CEMEX Philippines Foundation Inc. answered the Department of Education's (DepEd) call for the private sector to participate in National Schools Maintenance Week also known as the "Brigada Eskwela."

An annual activity spear-headed by the DepEd, this year the Foundation joined to benefit over 2,000 students in its adopted schools CEPOC Central School in Tina-an, Naga, Cebu and Sapinit Elementary School in Antipolo City.

Assembling a team of volunteers composed of CEMEX employees, their spouses and children, the Foundation worked hand in hand with school officials and the local Parent-Teacher association to get the two schools ready for use in time for the June 5 school opening.

Preparing facilities for the new school year, volunteers swept school grounds, cleaned classrooms, and repainted school facilities. They were also ably assisted by CEMEX's own contractors who also wanted to give back to the community.
