"We truly appreciate the efforts and contributions made by the private sector and are particularly pleased to have the CEMEX Philippines Foundation join us in the Adopt-A School Program," Department of Education Assistant Secretary Teodoro Catindig said.
"You are taking your stand with us to face the challenge of giving students better access to education," he added.
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who graced the MOA Signing in Cebu said, "we are honored to witness corporate social responsibility being made to work where it is needed most."

CEMEX Philippines Foundation President Jaime Ruiz de Haro talked about the projects of the Foundation, and emphasized the importance of the projects saying, "we recognize the importance of education, and that knowledge is key to the success not only of individuals but of nations as well, and we are truly pleased we are able to help achieve this."
"We seal this agreement with the schools that we will adopt as proof of our commitment to help the children have better access to quality education," Ruiz de Haro added.
The Adopt-a-School program of the government created a unique opportunity for the private sector to partner with the government in raising the bar for Philippine education. Also, the program helps bridge the gap created by the inadequacy of government resources, where sadly, 91% of education budget is spent on salaries and wages of teachers and employees nationwide, and only 9% is used to address the real education issues and needs of students.
